EU ADOPTS 14TH RUSSIAN SANCTION PACKAGE

The European Council adopted 14th package of sanctions against Russia, reflecting ongoing enforcement needs and on-ground findings. Key measures include energy-related restrictions, particularly on liquified natural gas (LNG), targeting vessels aiding Russia's warfare and comprehensive financial sanctions. The package also introduces stricter trade restrictions and protective measures for EU operators against expropriation and intellectual property theft and it also targets circumvention efforts and safeguards EU interests against economic and political interference.

Trade related measures include extended export restrictions on dual-use and advanced technology items, reinforced export bans on industrial goods in chemicals, plastics, vehicle parts and machinery and an import ban on helium and refined bans on Russian diamonds. Transport Measures comprise of restrictions on non-scheduled flights and tightened road transport bans for companies with significant Russian ownership and prohibition on port access and services for 27 listed vessels aiding Russian warfare.

To aid implementation, the European Commission has issued a new FAQ on the 14th Sanction package.
