ECTA GENERAL MEETING

Last week, CLECAT participated in the European Clean Trucking Alliance (ECTA) General Meeting, held in Neuss, Germany. Members of the Alliance had the opportunity to discuss the latest developments in the decarbonisation of road freight transport and outline the future work plan of the Alliance.

The meeting began with a discussion on recent legislative updates, including the European Parliament elections, the nomination of the new Commission, and pending or upcoming items on the European agenda, such as Weights & Dimensions, HDV CO2 standards, and the Greening Corporate Fleets initiative. Members also received an update on ECTA’s ongoing studies, which monitor the transition to zero-emission trucks (ZET) in key EU countries and highlight real-world case studies of battery-electric vehicle usage. An interactive session followed, where members exchanged views on the challenges of transitioning to zero-emission trucking and explored practical solutions. Kristin Kahl, Co-Managing Director of Contargo Truck Fleet GmbH & Co. KG, was re-elected as the ECTA spokesperson for another one-year term.

After the meeting, members visited the Contargo tri-modal terminal in Neuss, where trains, barges, and trucks can load and unload containers along the Rhine. The terminal recently invested in four chargers for electric trucks, contributing to the company’s efforts to decarbonise its operations while showcasing its innovative approach to sustainable transport solutions.
