COMMISSION ANNOUNCES TARIFF INCREASE ON RUSSIAN AND BELARUS GRAIN IMPORTS
On 22nd March the European Commission announced plans to increase tariffs on cereal, oilseed, and grain product imports from Russia and Belarus, including wheat and sunflower meal, to prevent EU market destabilization and tackle the illegal export of Ukrainian grain mislabelled as Russian.

EC PUBLISHES RECOMMENDATIONS TO COMBAT COUNTERFEITING AND ENHANCE THE ENFORCEMENT OF IPR
The European Commission has published Recommendations to combat counterfeiting and enhance the enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) across the EU. This move, prompted by the surge in counterfeit goods, which constituted nearly 6% of EU imports in 2019, aims to safeguard innovation, investment, and the green transition.

On 21st March, the US House of Representatives largely adopted a bill proposing new reforms to the US Shipping Act, giving more regulatory powers to the Federal Maritime Commission to crack down on potential technology and anticompetitive practices in shipping.

T&E STUDY REVEALS CARRIERS’ PROFITS FROM ETS SURCHARGES
