JOINT LETTER IN SUPPORT OF A FASTER ROLL OF ALTERNATIVE FUELS INFRASTRUCTURE
On 9 February, CLECAT signed a letter together with ACEA, ECG ESPORG, AXSOL, MECHATRONIK, MILENCE and UETR – as part of the E-Parking Task Force, calling on the European Parliament and the Council to demonstrate strategic leadership, vision and ambition with regards to speeding up development of alternative fuel infrastructure in Europe within the TEN-T network, with Safe and Secure Truck Parking Areas (SSTPAs) as key charging hubs.

CLECAT, EEA AND ESC CALL FOR SERIOUS REVISION OF THE DRIVING LICENSE DIRECTIVE
On 8 February, CLECAT, together with EEA and ESC sent a letter to Commissioner Adina Valean on the upcoming revision of the Driving License Directive, expected on 1st March as part of the Road Safety Package.

CLECAT ROAD LOGISTICS INSTITUTE MEETS
The CLECAT Road Logistics Institute met on 8 February to exchange views on developments affecting road transport and logistics at national and EU level. Members discussed the issues related to the decarbonisation of road freight transport, shortage of drivers, as well as the revision of the Weights and Dimensions Directive.

CLECAT’s Supply Chain Security and Customs Institute members met this morning to exchange views and concerns on the preparedness of the industry for the Release 2 of the Import Control System 2 (ICS2) which enters into force on March 1, 2023.

FENIX FINAL EVENTS LAUNCHES FENIX2.0
CLECAT participated at the final FENIX event on 8 February in Brussels. The FENIX event demonstrated the project’s results and achievements. FENIX is a project that was conceived as a result of the European Commission’s (EC’s) Digital Transport and Logistic Forum (DTLF) recommendations.

MEPS GIVE GREEN LIGHT TO FIVE PROVISIONAL AGREEMENTS IN “FIT FOR 55” PACKAGE, INCLUDING ETS AND CBAM
On 8 and 9 February, the European Parliament’s ENVI Committee as well as the Council’s Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) approved the provisional agreements reached in trilogues in the ‘Fit for 55’ package, including the much-debated regulations on the Emissions Trading System (ETS) and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

CE DELFT STUDY ON PRICING INSTRUMENTS ON TRANSPORT EMISSIONS
At the TRAN meeting which took place earlier this week in Brussels, CE Delft presented a new study prepared for the European Parliament on the pricing instruments on transport emissions. The study provides an overview of the different pricing instruments on road transport CO2 emissions that are currently used in the EU, the main developments that are expected in this field and the impacts these instruments may have on the transport sector and society in general.

SAVE THE DATE – HIGH CAPACITY VEHICLES FOR SUSTAINABLE AND EFFICIENT ROAD FREIGHT
CLECAT will be present at the Transport and Logistics Munich on the 9th May with a side-event on high capacity transport for sustainable and efficient road transport. High-Capacity Vehicles (HCVs) have been introduced in various EU Member States or are being tested. These vehicles have been designed to operate on existing roadways with limited or no additional infrastructure investment.
