EC PRESENTS ACTION PLAN TO TACKLE LABOUR AND SKILLS SHORTAGES
On 20 March the European Commission presented an action plan to tackle labour and skills shortages proposing to work together with Member States and social partners to address these issues over the coming months and years. The action plan is part of the EU’s strategy to boost its competitiveness and enhance its economic and social resilience.

EC MAKES €1BN AVAILABLE FOR RECHARGING AND REFUELLING POINTS UNDER CEF
The European Commission has launched a call for proposals under the Connecting Europe Facility – Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF). €1 billion is available to support the deployment of alternative fuels supply infrastructure for road, maritime, inland waterway and air transport along TEN-T, the trans-European transport network:

ECTA UNVEILS STUDY ON FINANCING ZERO-EMISSION TRUCKS
On 31 March, the European Clean Trucking Alliance – ECTA, of which CLECAT is a member – published an in-depth analysis of the challenges for financing the transition towards zero-emission trucks (ZETs) faced by the logistics industry, considering the high upfront costs of vehicles and the corresponding charging/refuelling infrastructure.

COMMISSION ANNOUNCES TARIFF INCREASE ON RUSSIAN AND BELARUS GRAIN IMPORTS
On 22nd March the European Commission announced plans to increase tariffs on cereal, oilseed, and grain product imports from Russia and Belarus, including wheat and sunflower meal, to prevent EU market destabilization and tackle the illegal export of Ukrainian grain mislabelled as Russian.

EC PUBLISHES RECOMMENDATIONS TO COMBAT COUNTERFEITING AND ENHANCE THE ENFORCEMENT OF IPR
The European Commission has published Recommendations to combat counterfeiting and enhance the enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) across the EU. This move, prompted by the surge in counterfeit goods, which constituted nearly 6% of EU imports in 2019, aims to safeguard innovation, investment, and the green transition.

US HOUSE LAWMAKERS PASS BILL REGULATING FOREIGN ANTICOMPETITVE PRACTICES IN SHIPPING

T&E STUDY REVEALS CARRIERS’ PROFITS FROM ETS SURCHARGES
