CALL FOR EVIDENCE ON STATE AID GUIDELINES FOR AIRPORTS AND AIRLINES
On 27 August, the European Commission published a call for evidence to revise the Guidelines on State aid to airports and airlines, aiming to align them with the Green Deal objectives while maintaining connectivity and supporting competition in the sector.
The Commission noted that since the last amendment of the 2014 Guidelines on State aid to airports and airlines, which took place in 2023, the sector has evolved significantly. Among the reasons mentioned for their revision, the Commission’s fitness check identified the need to ensure full alignment with the Green Deal objectives and stressed the need for clarifications of the rules laid down in the Guidelines.
The call for evidence is open until 8 October 2024 and will be
followed by a public consultation planned for the third quarter of 2024.
