POLISH HAULIERS SUSPEND BLOCKADE ON UKRAINE BORDER
This week, the Polish government announced that it found an agreement with the Polish truckers to lift the blockade of the border with Ukraine, at least until 1st March.

PARLIAMENT ADOPTS A RESOLUTION ON A EUROPEAN PORT STRATEGY
On 17 January, the Parliament adopted in Plenary session a resolution on building a comprehensive European Port Strategy. Led by Rapporteur MEP Tom Berendsen (EPP, NL), the report suggests several measures to improve the competitiveness of EU ports and maritime transport in general.

COUNCIL AND PARLIAMENT STRIKE A DEAL ON CO2 STANDARDS FOR HDV
On 18 January, on their first trilogue meeting, negotiators from the Council and the Parliament reached a provisional agreement on the HDV CO2 standards Regulation. The deal would strengthen CO2 emission performance targets to increase the deployment of zero-emissions trucks in the EU.

EU COMMISSION SETS NEW PROTECTIVE DUTY RATES FOR SHIPBUILDING COMPONENTS
In order to protect local industry, on the 11th January the European Commission announced the imposition of duties on bulb flats, a specialized steel product integral to shipbuilding, imported from Turkey and China. RED SEA CRISIS DEEPENS AS CARRIERS INTRODUCE STEEP SURCHARGES
